Description of summer assignment:

Used satellite tool Kit to simulate real time data of a small satellite and its ground station which the data was imported into a MATLAB code to generate a Link Power Budget and several plots. Also worked on a Biterror test using VHDL.

What did you like about the assignment?

It was challenging and therefore I learned new valuable information.

Did you have a mentor?

If so, describe your interactions with your mentor: yes, we would speak daily in regards to the project. I would receive daily feedback.

What did you learn? (Both technical and professional skills)

I learned presentation skills, power point skills, and learned to use MATLAB and VHDL in an efficient manner.

Advice for other students about interning:

Always be optimistic, have a curiosity to learn new things, be enthusiastic, and always do your best.

I applied for the NNSA internship program and several mentors called in regards to their project to have students help out during the summer.

What was your biggest challenge and how did you handle it?

The interview was handled completely via phone.

Any other comments?

It was a great experience. I met a lot of people, both students and professionals. I was exposed to a daily work environment with duties and gained a lot of knowledge.
